The Faculty of Applied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, successfully concluded the Applied Sciences Undergraduate Research Sessions (ASURS) 2026, providing undergraduate students with a valuable platform to present their research findings and engage with the scientific community in a professional setting. This encourage undergraduate students to publish their research findings and communicate scientific ideas in a professional environment. The sessions covered six major disciplinary tracks: Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Health Promotion, Mathematics and Physics.

Alongside the main research sessions, ASURS 2026 also featured a series of events, including two Pre-Congress Workshops, a 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, and an Art Competition, offering participants a well-rounded academic and creative experience.

The success of ASURS 2026 was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee, led by Pro. G.N. D. Guruge as Program Chair and Ms. S.P. Senevirathne as Program Secretary and the team of coordinators including Mr. P.S. Palliyaguruge, Dr. (Mrs.) S.A. Senevirathne, Dr. E.Y. Fernando, Dr. C.A. Thotawatthage and Ms. S.D. Gunasekara. The editorial work was headed by Prof. D.L.P. Senarathna as Editor-in-Chief, supported by an Editorial Board comprising Prof. H.M.A.M.C. Herath, Mr. N. Weerakoon, Dr. W.A. Gunarathne, Dr. D. Raheem, and Ms. W.M.N.U.K. Rathnayake.

With the support of this committee, ASURS 2026 proved once again that it is a cornerstone event for developing young researchers in the Faculty of Applied Sciences. It gave students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Health Promotion, Mathematics, and Physics a great platform to connect, share ideas, and gain firsthand experience with professional academic presentations and publications..
