Rajarata University Strengthens Pakistan–Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation

The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) successfully hosted the Pakistan–Sri Lanka Higher Education Programme on 3rd July 2026, bringing together senior university representatives, academics, school students, and a distinguished delegation from eight leading universities in Pakistan. The programme was organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan in collaboration with the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka.
Representing Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Vice Chancellor Prof. P.M.B. Jayathilake, the Director of the Rajarata University International Relations Unit (RUIRU) Prof.WHMS Samarathunga, Deans of Faculties, and senior academics warmly welcomed the visiting delegation. During the official meeting, both parties engaged in productive discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation through joint research, innovation initiatives, faculty and student exchange programmes, collaborative academic projects, postgraduate opportunities, and long-term institutional partnerships.
The Pakistani delegation represented DOW University of Health Sciences, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Lahore, Bahria University, COMSATS University Islamabad, Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, National University of Technology (NUTECH), and Khyber Medical University.
Following the official discussions, the delegation conducted an Education Fair for Sri Lankan school leavers and prospective university students. Participants received detailed information on the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship Programme, which offers fully and partially funded undergraduate, master’s, and PhD scholarships for Sri Lankan students across a wide range of academic disciplines.
The event reaffirmed Rajarata University of Sri Lanka’s commitment to advancing internationalization and strengthening global academic partnerships while creating new opportunities for Sri Lankan students and academics to engage with leading higher education institutions in Pakistan.
