The academic, administrative, non-academic, and student community of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka deeply mourns the demise of its esteemed founding Vice Chancellor (1996-20012, Emeritus Professor W. I. Siriweera, whose visionary leadership and dedicated service laid a strong foundation for the University’s progress and excellence.
Professor Siriweera served with great distinction as the first Vice Chancellor, guiding the establishment and early development of the University with exceptional commitment, integrity, and foresight. His invaluable contributions played a pivotal role in shaping the academic, administrative, and cultural fabric of the institution, leaving behind a lasting and inspiring legacy.
A distinguished scholar and exemplary leader, Professor Siriweera devoted his life to the advancement of higher education in Sri Lanka. His wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication will be remembered with profound respect and gratitude by colleagues, students, and the wider academic community.
The University extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
May he attain the supreme bliss of Nirvana.
