Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kangara Global (Pvt) Ltd on 17th September 2026 with the objective of commercializing several cosmetic related university research outcomes.
The signing ceremony was held at the university premises in the esteemed presence of Prof. P. M. B. Jayathilake, Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, and Mr. K.M.P.M.B Kangara, Managing Director of Kangara Global (Pvt) Ltd.
The research and product development initiative was carried out by the Faculty of Technology, RUSL. The commercialization of these research outcomes marks another important milestone in strengthening university–industry collaboration and promoting the translation of university research into market-oriented products.
Kangara Global (Pvt) Ltd is an emerging company engaged in the development, manufacturing, and distribution of cosmetic and consumer-related products. Through this collaboration, RUSL and Kangara Global aim to enhance the value of university innovations by facilitating the development and commercialization of research-based products for the market.
The research team was led by Dr. Asha Wijegunawardana, Department of Bio-Process Technology, Faculty of Technology. Prof. H. K. S. de Zoysa, Dean, Faculty of Technology; Prof. H. M. B. P. Ranaweera, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies; Ms. S. C. Herath, Registrar, RUSL; Mr. Sampath Godakumbura, Bursar, RUSL, and Ms.Lalani Fernando, KTTO Faculty Coordinator, representing Faculty of Technology participated in the ceremony.
Representing Kangara Global (Pvt) Limited, Mr. S. A. D. S. L. Weerasinghe, Director/CEO, Super White Lanka (Pvt) Limited, and Mr. Tharaka Amarasena, Head – Investor Education and Branch Operations, Colombo Stock Exchange, also attended the event to witness this significant collaboration.
