
Mr. K.A.J. Sadun Jayasuriya, a fourth-year undergraduate of the Environmental Management Honours Degree Programme, Department of Environmental Management, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, delivered a Youth Speech at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP30) and represented South Asian Youth Leaders at the 20th United Nations Conference of Youth (COY20) that was held from 6th-8th November, 2025, in Belém, Brazil, under the theme of ‘Empowering Youth for Climate Action and Equity in the Amazon’.
This is a historic milestone, as Mr. Jayasuriya becomes the first Sri Lankan undergraduate to participate in the United Nations Climate Change Conference as a Youth Speaker. This remarkable accomplishment highlights the global recognition of Rajarata University’s commitment to sustainability and youth leadership.
