Circular Design Thinking Workshop Series 2026 – GIZ Sri Lanka
The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO) of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) nominated a group of students and academic staff to participate in the Circular Design Thinking Workshop Series 2026, organized by GIZ Sri Lanka.
The Dambulla workshop was successfully held on 25–26 June 2026, bringing together participants from universities and organizations across the country to explore innovative approaches to circular economy principles, sustainable design, and design thinking methodologies.
Representatives from several faculties of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka actively participated in the two-day workshop, engaging in interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical activities designed to enhance their knowledge and skills in circular design thinking.
SYNERGY 2026: CCS – RUSL Collaborative Research Initiative
A productive meeting was held on 1 July 2026 at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka under the SYNERGY 2026 – CCS–RUSL Collaborative Research Initiative. The meeting brought together the Research & Development (R&D) and Innovation Team of CCS and the research teams of RUSL.
The discussion focused on the shortlisted research concepts proposed by the RUSL research teams. Participants reviewed each concept, exchanged technical and strategic insights, and identified the next steps for advancing the collaborative research projects.
The meeting marked another significant milestone in strengthening the partnership between CCS and RUSL, reaffirming a shared commitment to fostering innovation, promoting impactful research, and developing sustainable solutions through industry–university collaboration.
Workshop on Climate, Business & Leadership
The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Bank of Ceylon, Super Grade Branch, Anuradhapura, successfully organized a workshop on Climate, Business & Leadership on 22nd June 2026 at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
The workshop aimed to promote environmental consciousness and climate action among university students. The programme focused on environmental conservation, climate change awareness, waste management, sustainable practices, and inspiring young people to become environmental leaders within their communities.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Hasanka Padukka, an environmental innovator, social entrepreneur, and climate leadership trainer. The event was attended by undergraduate students representing different faculties of the university, along with several academic staff members.
The workshop provided participants with valuable insights into current environmental challenges and the role of leadership and innovation in addressing climate-related issues. It also encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices and contribute actively to building a more environmentally responsible society.
Workshop on Turning Your Final Year Project into An Innovation : Patent Serach Basics
The University Business Linkage Cell of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka, conducted a workshop on 6th May 2026 for final-year undergraduates at RUSL on patent information searching prior to the commencement of their final research projects. This session aimed to guide students in identifying existing technologies, avoiding duplication, and developing more innovative research outcomes.7th Advisory Board Meeting – University Business Linkage Cell, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka
The University Business Linkage (UBL) Cell of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka successfully conducted its 7th Advisory Board Meeting on 21st April 2026 via the Zoom platform.
The meeting was graced by the Vice Chancellor, along with the Deans of the respective faculties, the UBL Director, Registrar, Bursar, and esteemed external members.
The session served as an important platform to review ongoing UBL initiatives, discuss strategic directions, and strengthen collaborations between the university and industry partners. The valuable insights and guidance provided by both internal and external members are expected to further enhance the impact and outreach of UBL activities.
The meeting concluded with key insights and recommendations from the Advisory Board members, reinforcing the commitment of UBL to foster impactful collaborations and contribute to regional and national development.

Meeting with National Innovation Agency (NIA)
Strengthening University–Industry Linkages for a Vibrant Innovation Ecosystem
A productive meeting was held with the National Innovation Agency (NIA) on 27th April 2026 to discuss potential collaboration and capacity building in technology transfer and commercialization. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Muditha Senarath Yapa, Chief Innovation Officer of NIA.
The discussion was attended by Dr. Asha Wijegunawardana, Director of the UBL Cell, along with representatives from various faculties including Prof. Ranjith Edirisinghe, Dr. P.D Kahandage, Mrs. JNG Lalani and Mr. RMGHN Rathnayake.
This partnership marks an important milestone as we expand our presence in the innovation and commercialization landscape, creating pathways to transform university research, ideas, and technologies into real-world impact. We look forward to working together to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement for the benefit of society and national development.
