Diploma Awarding Ceremony – Diploma in Environmental Management Intake IV

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka proudly hosted the Diploma Awarding Ceremony for the Diploma in Environmental Management – Intake IV on 30th March 2026, marking a significant academic milestone for the graduates.
The ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. M. B. Jayatilake, who attended as the Chief Guest, adding great prestige to the occasion. The event was further honored by the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. E. M. S. Ekanayake, along with the Registrar, Librarian, and Bursar, reflecting strong institutional support.
Distinguished attendees also included the Director of the Centre for Distance and Continuing Education, Prof. W. P. Wijewardhana, and the Deputy Director, Dr. C. T. Gamage, whose continued commitment has been instrumental to the programme’s success. The Head of the Department of Environmental Management, Prof. P. S. K. Rajapaksha, together with Heads of Departments, academic staff, and invitees, contributed to the significance of the occasion.
The Board of Study of the Diploma Programme, led by Dr. W. M. S. B. Wanninayake (Chairperson) and Dr. M. M. S. A. Marasinghe (Coordinator), was acknowledged for maintaining the academic excellence of the programme. The dedication of the teaching, administrative, and support staff of both the Department and the Centre played a crucial role in the successful organization of the ceremony.
A special highlight of this year’s ceremony was the introduction of the academic diploma cloak, used for the first time in the University’s history, marking a proud and memorable milestone in its academic traditions.
Overall, the ceremony was a memorable celebration of achievement, collaboration, and academic excellence, reflecting the University’s continued commitment to nurturing environmental leadership for the future.
