The Staff Development Centre (SDC), Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, successfully inaugurated the Certificate of Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) 2026 – Intake I together with the Academic Staff Induction Programme 2026 on 03 August 2026 at the Staff Development Centre.

The ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by the Registrar, Librarian, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Centres and Units, and newly recruited lecturers, reflecting the University’s strong commitment to academic excellence and professional development.

The programme commenced with the University Anthem, followed by the welcome address delivered by Prof. Manjula Ranagalage, Director of the Staff Development Centre. The Dean of the Faculty then delivered an address, after which the Vice Chancellor delivered the keynote address, emphasising the importance of excellence in university teaching, research, innovation, academic leadership, and lifelong professional development.

The Certificate of Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) is the University’s flagship professional development programme designed to enhance teaching competencies, assessment practices, curriculum development, educational technology, research capacity, and academic professionalism among university academics. The Academic Staff Induction Programme complements this initiative by familiarizing newly appointed academic staff with the University’s vision, policies, governance, academic culture, and institutional practices.

The programme will be conducted in four phases:

  • 03–06 August 2026
  • 17–22 August 2026
  • 31 August–04 September 2026
  • 14–18 September 2026
