The Inter-Faculty Fresher’s Sports Tournament of Academic Years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 was successfully held from 07th to 24th March 2026, a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and inter-faculty camaraderie. The tournament was conducted by the Department of Physical Education, under the guidance of the Sports Advisory Committee, with the support of the University administration.

A total of 58 trophies were awarded, including titles for Overall Champion, 1st Runners-up, and 2nd Runners-up for both batches. In addition, over 50 Best Player awards were presented to outstanding male and female athletes in recognition of their exceptional performances.

The tournament concluded with a grand closing ceremony held at the University grounds. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.M.B. Jayathilake, and attended by distinguished members of the University community, including Dr. Manoj Fernando, President of the Sports Advisory Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences; Dr. Janaka Pushpakumara, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences; Prof. Samantha Ekanayake; Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Prof. Chathuranga Bamunuarachchige; Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Prof. Yashoda Bandara, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies as well as the Librarian, Registrar, Bursar, and members of the Sports Advisory Committee.

The ceremony featured a vibrant and well-coordinated program with the presentation of awards and championship trophies.
