The Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, proudly welcomed its New Intake 2026 at the Inauguration Ceremony held on 3rd June 2026 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Agriculture. The event marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the newly enrolled students.

The ceremony was graced by Prof. P.M.B. Jayathilaka, Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the new entrants and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities offered by university life while striving for academic excellence, leadership, and personal growth.

The students were warmly welcomed by Prof. M.H.J.P. Gunarathna, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, together with the academic and non-academic staff of the Faculty. The Dean emphasized the Faculty’s commitment to providing a supportive and stimulating learning environment that nurtures knowledge, innovation, and professional development.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the motivational speech delivered by Mr. B.M.I.L. Bandara, Assistant Commissioner of Elections and a distinguished alumnus of the Faculty of Agriculture. Sharing valuable insights from his academic and professional journey, he inspired the new students to pursue their aspirations with dedication, perseverance, and integrity.

The event also featured an Awarding Ceremony in recognition of outstanding student achievements. Dean’s List recipients and Faculty Award winners were honored for their exceptional academic as well as extra-curricular  performance and contributions, reflecting the Faculty’s strong commitment to academic excellence.

The inauguration ceremony concluded on a positive and inspiring note, officially welcoming the New Intake 2026 to the Faculty of Agriculture and encouraging them to embark on their university journey with enthusiasm, determination, and a commitment to excellence.
