The inauguration ceremony for Intake VIII of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, was held on 31 March 2026 via an online platform.

The event was conducted under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor P.M.B.  Jayathilake. Distinguished participants included Professor E.M.S. Ekanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Ms. S. C. Herath, Registrar; Mr. Sampath Godakumbura, Bursar; Ms. Ashoka Siriwardhena, Librarian; and Professor W.K.D. Keerthirathna, Mr. Sampath Gamage, Programme Coordinator.

A total of 225 students were selected for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme this year, based on their performance at the selection test and interviews.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the vital role of teachers in shaping globally competent citizens capable of meeting the challenges of the twenty-first century. He also appreciated the dedicated service rendered by the Dean, programme coordinators, and academic staff in maintaining the quality and standards of the programme.
