Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North Central Province Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (NCPCCIA) on 2 October 2026 at the University premises. The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration between the University and the business community, supporting the objectives of the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO) of RUSL.

The signing ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of Professor P. M. B. Jayathilake, Vice-Chancellor of RUSL, and Mr. K. M. P. M. B. Kangara, President of NCPCCIA.

NCPCCIA plays an important role in lobbying and advocacy, networking, and capacity building for entrepreneurs, the business community, and other stakeholders across the North Central Province. Through this collaboration, RUSL and NCPCCIA expect to strengthen university–industry linkages, promote knowledge and technology transfer, and facilitate the practical application of university research and innovations to address industry needs.

The ceremony was attended by Professor Janaka Gunaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Ms. S. C. Herath, Registrar of RUSL; Mr. Sampath Godakumbura, Bursar of RUSL; Ms. Lalani Fernando, KTTO Faculty Coordinator representing the Faculty of Technology; and other university executive staff members.

The NCPCCIA was represented by members of its Board of Directors.

The MoU marks an important step towards fostering stronger partnerships between academia and industry, encouraging innovation, and supporting the sustainable development of entrepreneurs and businesses in the North Central Province.
