MESSAGE FROM THE VICE CHANCELLOR
It is with great honour and a deep sense of responsibility that I extend this message to the university community as the Vice Chancellor of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. Our university aspires to be a centre of excellence in higher education and research, advancing knowledge and skills through teaching, research, and community engagement, while serving society with dignity and integrity.
The University has continuously undertaken significant initiatives to strengthen academic quality, nurture creativity, and promote intellectual growth. In doing so, we remain committed to upholding academic merit, social responsibility, and mutual respect among all members of our university community and our valued stakeholders.
In my role as Vice Chancellor, my vision is to provide innovative, dynamic, transparent, and committed leadership that will guide our University to become a leading intellectual force of the nation. This requires collective commitment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration among academics, administrative staff, students, alumni, and external partners. I firmly believe that the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka can play a vital role in shaping national development, particularly by contributing meaningfully to regional development and social transformation.
To realise our vision and mission, we must continue to uphold our core values: academic freedom and excellence, good governance and accountability, equity, justice and inclusiveness. These values will guide us in creating a vibrant academic environment that supports teaching, research, and community service, while fostering mutual trust and collaboration.
I am committed to strengthening the institutional environment necessary for quality teaching, impactful research, and meaningful community engagement. Equally important is ensuring that fair and effective mechanisms are in place to address challenges and resolve issues in consultation with the relevant authorities and representatives of our stakeholders, in accordance with the directions of the University Senate and Council.
I also encourage our students to prioritise their academic journey, make the best use of the valuable human and physical resources provided through the generosity of the people of Sri Lanka, and strive to graduate as responsible, skilled, and socially conscious citizens.
Together, with dedication and unity, I am confident that we can further strengthen the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka as a respected centre of knowledge, innovation, and service to the nation.
Professor P. M. B. Jayathilake
