Rajarata University of Sri Lanka joyfully celebrated Thai Pongal, the Tamil harvest festival. The event brought together students and staff to honour tradition and express gratitude for nature’s bounty.

The celebration began with a beautiful Kolam at the venue entrance and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. A highlight was the traditional preparation of Sakkarai Pongal in clay pots, accompanied by the joyful chorus of “Pongalo Pongal!” symbolizing prosperity.

The event featured cultural performances, including Tamil folk dances and music, which showcased the rich heritage of Tamil people. The event fostered inclusivity and cultural appreciation across the university community.
