Academic program of the batches 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 will not be commenced on 15th May 2019 as planned earlier. Therefore, the hostel facilities for the students of above batches will not be available on 14th May 2019 as noticed earlier. The new commencement date and the hostel opening date will be decided later in the week, taking the security developments in to consideration, and the students will be duly informed.


Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, located in Saliyapura village, is 8 Kilometers away from the historic city on Anuradhapura – Rambewa – Jaffna main road and 18 Kilometers away from the main campus at Mihintale.

Haycarb PLC, a Hayleys group company who is a leading global supplier of activated carbon products, recently donated the FMAS researchers 200 packs of activated charcoal required for a new randomized controlled trial on activated charcoal for paracetamol poisoning which will be commenced soon.  Professor Sisira Siribaddana, Dean, FMAS received the activated charcoal for the trial from the Managing Director of Haycarb, Mr. Rajitha Kariyawasan.

Dr. Anjana Silva, Senior Lecturer, Department of Parasitology, won the Vice Chancellor's commendation award for thesis excellence 2017 from the Monash University, Australia for his PhD thesis titled "Investigation of the neuromuscular effects of snake envenoming and ativenom as treatment". 

Dr. Anjana Silva, Senior Lecturer, Department of Parasitology, delivered the prestigious Dr. S. Ramachandran oration of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) at the 131st Anniversary International Medical Congress of the SLMA held at Galadari Hotel, Colombo on 29th July 2018. The title of the oration was "Antivenoms in the treatment of neurotoxic snakebite: effectiveness and limitations".
