Dr. Wolly Wijayaratne, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Plant Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka received prestigious Norman E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellowship administered by the United States Department of Agriculture Foreign Agriculture Service (USDA FAS). Dr. Wijayaratne followed his training as a Borlaug fellow at the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service, San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center, Parlier, California, USA from July 8-September 28, 2019 (12 weeks).

During the fellowship training, Dr. Wijayaratne worked one-on-one with Dr. Charles Burks, Research Entomologist at USDA ARS, on pheromone-based pest management strategies in stored-product protection with emphasis on mating disruption of Indianmeal moth Plodia interpuntella.
