                                                Call for a Consultant to develop two English Courses to the academic program

                                       of the Department of Agricultural Systems, Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka

                                                                                         Terms of Reference (TOR)

1. Background

Under the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHED) project the Department of Agricultural Systems is planning to introduce two English courses: Professional English and Business English to the existing academic program to enhance the job opportunities for the students specialized in the department modules.

2.  Objective

The objective of the consultancy is to review the existing programs in other universities and prepare improved course modules for Professional English and Business English in line with international standards that ensure students’ employability.

3.  Scope of the work

  • Review course content, teaching, learning and assessment methods of ESL courses offered by other universities nationally and internationally
  • Develop a draft of two course modules for Business English and Professional English
  • Present the developed draft  at the stakeholder workshop organized by the department
  • Revise the draft by incorporating workshop comments
  • Prepare a final draft after receiving the comments

4.   Required qualification and experience

  • A PhD in the relevant fields
  • Proven experience of the similar type of work
  • Sound knowledge on local and global job market opportunities and requirements

5.  Timeline of activities 

November 2019

6.  Payment

Daily rate of payment will be made based on qualification and experience of the consultant.

Maximum number of days should not be more than 20 days.
