Annual International Research Symposium organized by Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities - Rajarata University of Sri Lanka

Background

Rajarata University has a tradition of conducting multidisciplinary research and disseminate results through local, national and international forums monthly and annually. The university is functioning as a full pledge higher education institution in Sri Lanka from 1996 with five faculties located at Mihintale and Anuradhapura. The location is 250 km away from capital of the country – Colombo and surrounded by calm and quiet environment. Mihintale is a unique place as it had sustainably supported flourishing civilization for almost twenty centuries in the past. The university itself is passing a rapid growth period at present.

Aims of the Symposium

The aim of the symposium is to provide a platform for researchers, academics and professionals from all over the world to present their results of research and development activities. This symposium provides opportunities for the participants to exchange new ideas and experiences, to establish relations and to find global partners for future collaboration. This process is focused on contribution to the rapid process of development taken place in developing countries including Sri Lanka by suggesting sustainable and equitable pathways blended with indigenous and exogenous global knowledge. It is expected to suggest the need for avoidance of social and environmental problems created as a result of antagonistic development pathway.

Author Guidelnes

The extended abstracts should consist of cover page, the extended abstract of 750 to 1000 words and author profile of less than 250 words. The content page will include the title of the extended abstract, theme of the extended abstract, name (S) of authors and affiliations. The extended abstract will consist of Introduction (Problem statement), Objectives (of the paper), (Research) Methodology and Materials, Results, Discussion, Conclusion(s) and List of References. The author profile consists of the academic status of the author to be submitted as a separate sheet. Only the abstract will be communicated between authors and reviewers. Acceptance will be distinguished as Accepted as it is, Accepted with Minor Corrections, Accepted with Major Corrections, Accepted for Poster Presentation or Rejected.

Session Organization

The symposium is organized in to four major sessions of half day each being first is inaugural session. The other three major sessions are separated by eight themes totalling 25 including inaugural session. Some of the sessions will be organized onsite in pleasing environments. It is expected the symposium will be contributed by participants from around the world, China, India Middle East and SAARC countries would be representing with higher number with total of 150 foreign and 200 local participants. Two international experts on the main theme of the symposium will be invited to conduct guest speeches to be delivered during the sessions. The guest speeches, key note address and all presented extended abstracts will be published and among participants at the venue.

Registration fee for the symposium can be paid to the Bank of Ceylon - Mihintale Branch to the name of ''Rajarata University of Sri Lanka''.
