The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided that a Common Aptitude Test be held for admission of students for the study programme leading to the Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (BICT). Accordingly, those who sit and pass the above test will be considered for admission to the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka or the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna. The minimum requirements for University Admissions are specified under section 3.2 of the Hand Book on “Admission to the Undergraduate courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka Academic year 2011/2012 ” issued by the University Grants Commission(6pg).
Applicants who submittedtheir applications to the University Grants Commission to be considered for University Admission for the academic year 2011/2012 are required in addition, to apply to sit and pass the Aptitude Test mentioned herein, if they wish to be considered for admission to the above course. The test will be held at 05 centers (Colombo, Kandy, Mihintale, Vavuniya and Jaffna) of which the preferred centre can be indicated in the application form.
Please note that the Aptitude Test will be held in English only.
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE APTITUDE TEST
Candidates should have fulfilled the additional requirements listed in section 8.4.6 of the above UGC Hand Book 2011/2012 (Page 29, 30) in order to be considered for this programme
PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATIONS
|1. Candidates are required to prepare their own application form on A4 size paper in English in accordance with the format given below|
|Download the specimen application form from the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka website http://www.rjt.ac.lk. Or Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna website http://www.vau.jfn.ac.lk|
|Collect the Application from the examinations & Academic branch of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka or Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Vavuniya Campus of University of Jaffna. Hand written applications are not accepted under any circumstances|
|2. The Aptitude Test fee of Rs. 500/- can be paid to any branch of the People’s Bank by using the People’s Bank normal cash paying-in-slip drawn in favour of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, People’s Bank Account No. 008-1-001-8-1725841 (Anuradhapura Branch). Please note that the applicants’ copy of the cash-paying-in slip has to be sent along with the application form, whilst retaining a photocopy for applicants’ record. Cheques/Money Orders will not be accepted.|
|Certified copies of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Certificate, G.C.E. Ordinary Level Certificate and the National Identity Card (or Postal Identity Card) should be sent along with the duly filled application form. (Certificates should be certified by the School Principal or a Justice of Peace). The Official Stamp of the certifying officer should be placed on such certified copies. Original certificates should not be sent.|
|4. Candidates are required to send a Self- Addressed Stamped (Rs. 40/- stamps) Envelope of 9”x 12” size along with the application form. This envelope will be used to post the admission card for the Aptitude Test to candidates by registered post.|
(a) Candidate does not possess the minimum admission requirements for the Aptitude Test;
(b) Application is not accompanied by a bank cash paying-in-slip and duly certified copies of the G.C.E. A/L and G.C.E. O/L certificates, and the NIC/Postal ID;
(c) Application is incomplete; and
(d) Application is not received by the closing date.
In such instances, the payments made by the candidates will not be refunded under any circumstances
Applications can be sent only under Registered Cover to reach the Senior Assistant Registrar/Examinations & Academic, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka on or before 05th November 2012.
Please indicate on the top left hand corner of the envelope the title “BICT – Aptitude Test 2011/2012.”
